The Achieve Better Health with Nutrient Rich Foods Resource Guide offers a full menu of science, consumer insights and communications tools to support a long-standing concept: building healthful diets by choosing nutrient-dense – or nutrient-rich – foods first.
The Resource Guide tells the story of the creation of the Nutrient Rich Foods Coalition (NRFC) and the Nutrient Rich Foods approach, and equips nutrition educators with information and tools for understanding and telling others about living the nutrient-rich foods way.
Contents include:
- A look at the 2005 Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee’s research recommendation, which called for the development of a scientifically valid definition for nutrient density that could be useful on food labels and in determining what criteria are necessary for foods to meet this definition.
