The Nutrient Rich Foods Coalition Scientific Forum was held April 6, 2008, concurrently with Experimental Biology 2008 in San Diego, CA.* The Forum included presentations by Adam Drewnowski, PhD, Eileen Kennedy, DSc, RD, Victor Fulgoni, PhD, and Dan Kraemer that showcased to invited guests the development of a scientifically valid definition of nutrient density. Attendees also were educated about criteria to evaluate nutrition profiling systems and learned why the Nutrient Rich Foods (NRF) Index meets those criteria better than other systems. This Forum provided information that complemented Adam Drewnowski's presentation on the NRF Index at the American Society for Nutrition Public Information Committee's symposium entitled Nutrition Profiling: Global Approaches, Policies, and Perspectives held April 7 at Experimental Biology.
